LAC COURTE OREILLES, Wis. – The Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 5:27 p.m. to a reported house fire in the 9500 block of N. Drytown Ave.
Initial reports indicated a fire on the stove with a possible occupant still inside the residence. LCO Police Department, LCO Game Warden, LCO Fire Department, the Town of Hayward Fire Department, and the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department responded.
The LCO Police Department was the first to arrive. Upon arrival, an officer reported heavy black smoke coming from the structure and observed an occupant inside the home and assisted them out of the home. Officers were able to extinguish the stove fire prior to fire department arrival.
Once on scene, LCO firefighters and Town of Hayward firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to check for fire extensions in walls and ceilings. No extension was found. Crews then ventilated the residence and cleared the scene.
The occupant sustained minor smoke inhalation, was evaluated by the Sawyer County Ambulance, and cleared at the scene.
We would like to thank the LCO Police Department, LCO Game Wardens, LCO Fire Department, Town of Hayward Fire Department, Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department, and the Sawyer County Ambulance for their assistance and coordinated response.
